The 2018 FIFA World Cup constitutes an opportunity for Peru to promote its exportable supply in Russia, Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex) Chairman Juan Varilias pointed out.
In this sense, private and public sectors are coordinating a series of actions to achieve this objective.
"Russia is a potential market for Peru. It is the ninth most populated country in the world with 146 million inhabitants […]," Varilias expressed.
"Thus, there is no doubt it is an important market for Peruvian exports," he added.
Within this framework, the officer pointed out 80% of Peruvian exports correspond to
fishery sector and agroindustry. Therefore, the challenge remains in diversifying Peru's exportable supply.
According to Varilias, this initiative is also supported by Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry, as well as the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru).
The main aim is to promote manufacturing products with great potential in said market.
Likewise, the Adex head noted 95 untapped opportunities have been identified —mainly— in chemical, farming, metal, mechanic and textile sectors, as well as agroindustry.
