The recently signed Peru-Switzerland cooperation agreement to formalize small gold miners enables our two nations to complement one another, Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski noted on Friday.
Following a working meeting with President of the Swiss Confederation Doris Leuthard, Mr. Kuczynski highlighted her official visit, as it constitutes the first time a Swiss Head of State comes to the Inca country in 134 years.
He said Peru has developed important cooperation ties with such nation, and stressed there is a Swiss community based in the South American country.
"We have signed a cooperation agreement to formalize small gold miners; Switzerland is the world's largest gold processing nation, and Peru is one of the largest producers; that explains the complementarity between the two countries," he affirmed.
The Peruvian leader underlined that Switzerland has a unique government structure that consists of seven members of the Federal Council, whose presidency rotates among them on a yearly basis.
"This is the second time she has assumed the presidency, and the Constitution has not been modified during that time; this is a stability and consensus model that proves important for Latin America," he added.
