The Peruvian Government strongly condemns North Korea's latest missile launch, which was carried out last Sunday as part of the Asian nation's weapon testing sessions.

In a release, the Foreign Affairs Ministry voiced the government's opposition to North Korea's repeated tests, which pose a serious threat to international peace and security.

The Ministry also affirmed the missile launch constitutes yet another violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions on the matter.

Thus, the Government of Peru once again urges the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to cease testing and abandon its nuclear program.

Similarly, Peru calls on North Korea to adhere to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to facilitate the inspection of its nuclear facilities.

Lastly, the Inca nation reaffirms its commitment to international efforts to promote peace and stability in Northeast Asia, as well as attempts to implement corresponding sanctions set by the UN Security Council.
