Peru recalls Ambassador over verbal abuse allegations against staff

12:52 | Lima, Jun. 18.

Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Nestor Popolizio has called for the immediate return of Fortunato Quesada Seminario (Peruvian Ambassador to Israel) to Lima.

The envoy is accused of mistreatment and verbal abuse by Peruvian employees of his diplomatic delegation in Israel.

Popolizio took to Twitter to announce the beginning of an investigation into allegations against Quesada Seminario.

The case was recently reported by TV news program Panorama, which airs every Sunday in the Inca nation.

The TV show presented the testimony of the Israel-based Peruvian Embassy and Residence staff, who accused Quesada of mistreatment, humiliations, and even threats of dismissal.

The workers provided audio recordings to support their claims.

On the other hand, Fortunato Quesada Seminario said many of his remarks were made in an informal conversational context.
