10:49 | Juliaca (Puno region), Jan. 13.

As part of his water and sanitation access policy, Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday morning traveled to South-Andean Puno region to supervise water projects.

The Head of State arrived in Juliaca city at 8.30 AM to oversee the implementation of water services in Desaguadero district. Said venture is set to improve the population's life quality and boost productive development in the area, thus benefiting over 20,000 locals.

This is the third time the statesman supervises water and sewerage supply projects, following his visits to Cabrapata (Ayacucho region) and Pachacutec-Ventanilla (Callao).

"We start in Desaguadero to check on the progress made in the city's drinking water and sewerage project," the President said.

Peru's leader will then proceed to visit Lake Titicaca to address the feasibility of projects to build 10 wastewater treatment plants to clean up the said water body.

The measure aims to "end the terrible pollution damaging the most beautiful lake in the world."

Later, the President will head to Ayaviri city, where he will launch the Agriculture Ministry's Livestock Pasture Seeding Program.

"These are relevant, productive and environmentally-responsible actions and, above all, they will help Puno's cities and communities," he pointed out.

"With these three major works, we will contribute to the production, development and protection of this region," he added.

The President is joined by Ministers Edmer Trujillo (Housing, Construction and Sanitation) and Jose Manuel Hernandez (Agriculture and Irrigation), as well as legislators Salvador Heresi, Sergio Davila (Peruanos por el Kambio), Alberto Quintanilla, Moises Mamani and Marisa Glave (Frente Amplio).

The delegation is expected to return to Lima in the afternoon.
