Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Monday participated in the solemn session on the occasion of Arequipa city's 477th Foundation Anniversary.
Held in the southern city's Municipal Theater, the solemn session saw the presence of First Vice President Martin Vizcarra, Judicial Branch Chairman Duberli Rodriguez and Arequipa Governor Yamila Osorio.
Ministers Ana Maria Choquehuanca (Women and Vulnerable Populations) and Jorge Nieto (Defense), among other authorities, also attended the solemn ceremony.
In his speech,
Arequipa province Mayor Alfredo Zegarra welcomed the Head of State and underlined the support of the central government to build Arequipa's Integrated Transport System (SIT).
The government official addressed plans to build a metro in the "White City" through a streetcar system.
The southern town thus celebrates its 477th anniversary. Activities will include a Friendship Parade on Tuesday 15, among other cultural events.
Celebrations are
expected to lure more than 100,000 domestic and international visitors.
