Peruvian exports exceeded its imports by US$246 million in May 2017, thus marking ten straight months of positive performance since July 2016, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.
The Inca country's
exports stood at US$3.444 billion in the fifth month of this year, a 20.5% rise over the same month in 2016.
BCR explained said
result was driven by greater shipments of
traditional products (up 23.7%), mainly
copper and zinc.
Non-traditional exports totaled US$937 million, a 12.9% annual rise thanks to increasing farming and fishing exports.
On the other hand, imports expanded US$431 million (15.6%) over May 2016 due to greater input and consumer good purchases.
