Pope Francis will meet with Puerto Maldonado's indigenous peoples as part of his visit to the city next January, Monsignor David Martinez Aguirre de Guinea affirmed.
The gathering will take place outside Puerto Maldonado Coliseum.
Afterwards, the Supreme Pontiff will pay a visit to vulnerable children and teenagers in local homeless shelters.
Said activities were announced in a release issued by Peruvian Episcopal Conference (CEP).
Moreover, he stated locals will fit out their houses to provide alternative accommodation for thousands of visitors expected.
Pope Francis' schedule also includes visits to
Lima and
Trujillo cities.
