His Holiness Pope Francis on Saturday evening returned to the Apostolic Nunciature in Lima's Jesus Maria district, where he will spend the night following a hectic day in northern La Libertad region.
The Bishop of Rome
arrived at the Vatican diplomatic post at 06:40 PM amid tight security after landing at Callao’s Air Group No. 8.
Before entering the building, the Supreme Pontiff broke the papal protocol once again and approached the crowd of parishioners who had been waiting outside to get a close look at him.
In a brief tour, Pope Francis gave his blessings to children, adults, seniors and members of religious congregations, some of whom could not hide their joy and excitement over the meeting.
Later, the Holy Father entered the Apostolic Nunciature at 06:51 PM to rest before his last day in the Inca nation.
Tomorrow, the Head of the Catholic Church is to hold a major mass service at
Las Palmas Air Base, which is expected to gather over one million citizens.
