Peru's social revolution —promoted by the Kuczynski administration— will demand joint efforts undertaken by diverse sectors and focus on citizens' needs, Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz affirmed on Tuesday.
The also Second Vice-President believes this will imply a change in the scheme that had been previously implemented by the State. It was characterized by various sectors, which had been acting isolated from each other, according to their own goals and indicators, but without focusing on citizens' demands.
"
Social revolution means changing the way we had been usually working at the State level […]," she expressed in this sense.
During her speech at the
6th Social Inclusion Week event, the official said the Government wants to "reverse this style of making sectoral policies," and shape a very tightly-integrated structure in terms of behavior and actions.
"For example, concerning the needs for
water and sanitation, and those of remote communities, this [policy] has to be implemented according to the communities' needs, instead of thinking in an isolated manner [...]," she stressed.
In this sense, the Head of the Council of Ministers indicated that the idea is "to integrate all sectors, clearly focusing on the goals we have set," such as
reducing monetary, as well as
extreme poverty, and improving basic services.
The Prime Minister also called on the public, as well as private sectors, and civil society to contribute to this
social revolution.
"Let's make that social revolution together," Araoz concluded.
