Peru PM meets with mayors in Puno region

Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva on Friday held a series of bilateral meetings with 13 provincial mayors in Taquile Island, within the framework of Muni-Executive Power's extraordinary session.

The meeting's main aim was to promote territorial dialogue, region's economic and social dynamism, as well as intergovernmental coordination.

The gathering was presided over by President Martin Vizcarra. He was joined by Ministers Edmer Trujillo (Transport-Communication), David Tuesta (Economy-Finance), and Nestor Popolizio (Foreign Affairs).

Taquile Island is located on Titicaca Lake, 45 km from South-Andean city of Puno.

This is the largest island on said lake, as it has an area of 5.72 square kilometers and a population of approximately 2,200 people.
