The recently appointed Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz on Monday urged joint responsibility and dialogue between the Executive and Legislative Powers in order to move forward towards Peru's development.

"People granted us the Executive Power, and Fuerza Popular [opposition] party won a majority in Parliament. It's key to foster a sense of joint responsibility and dialogue between the Executive and Congress to further encourage progress for the country and its people," she told RPP radio and TV station.

For instance, she emphasized dialogue will be important to improve public services and to show people "we are not fighting," but working for them.

Challenge

The also-congresswoman sees her appointment as a challenge. Plus, she affirmed it is a moment of change for Peru, and time to carry on with President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's public policies.

Likewise, she thanked Fuerza Popular's welcome on her appointment as new head of the Council of Ministers.

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Sunday afternoon administered the oath of office to his new ministerial cabinet led by Second Vice-President Mercedes Araoz.

The measure was taken following Congress decision to reject the motion of confidence submitted by Fernando Zavala's team.

Araoz and all Cabinet members' appointments were made official on Monday morning, through supreme resolutions published in the official gazette El Peruano.
