Peru: Mining exports total US$12.265 billion in 1H 2017

The National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy (SNMPE) informed Peruvian mining exports reached US$12.265 billion in first half 2017, up by 28% over the same period last year (9.571 billion).

In this sense, copper sales abroad totaled US$6.184 billion, a 45% rise from its similar term in 2016.

Within this framework, main copper destinations were: China, Japan, South Korea and India, among others.

Gold

According to the guild, gold exports —between January and June— totaled US$3.623 billion, a 3% increase from the same period last year.

Top Peruvian gold destinations were: Switzerland, the United States, India and Canada.

Zinc

Zinc exports amounted to US$ 1.052 billion, up by 74% over Jan-Jun 2016.

China, South Korea, Spain, Brazil and Japan became the main target markets for this mineral.

According to SNMPE, mining exports in June reached US$2.195 billion, a 33% increase from the same month in 2016.
