Locations —to host Pope Francis' visit to Peru— will be confirmed by the end of August, Labor and Employment Promotion Minister Alfonso Grados announced.

As is known, the 80-year-old Pontiff will visit the Inca nation on January 18-21, 2018. His trip will include cities Lima, Puerto Maldonado and Trujillo.

In this context, various possible locations —in those cities— are being assessed since they must meet the requirements needed for such important event.

"We rely on pre-established places, which must be validated over the coming weeks [...]," Grados told local RPP TV and radio station.

The official added those places must meet security logistics-related requirements for the protection of the papal entourage, as well as citizens attending popular mass services to be presided over by His Holiness.

In addition, the Labor Head affirmed a Vatican delegation will arrive in the Andean country this week to coordinate security matters.

On behalf of the Peruvian government, Grados is in charge of organizing Pope Francis' official visit.

It must be noted Pope Francis last May expressed his wish to visit Peru in 2018

The 80-year-old Pontiff will be covering short-distance public appearances during his 4-day Peru tour aboard a popemobile for security matters, according to official information.
