Pedro Pablo Kuczynski Godard was officially named President of the Republic of Peru for the 2016-2021 term.
The 77-year-old was sworn-in by Congress Chairman Luz Salgado, who granted him the presidential sash. Afterwards, Martin Vizcarra Cornejo and Mercedes Araoz Fernandez were named Vice-Presidents.
The four-time Minister arrived at Congress facilities at 11:00 AM. Previously, former top official Ollanta Humala left the Government Palace headquarters.
Corresponding swearing-in ceremony sees the presence of 130 members of Congress, six Latin American Heads of State and Vice-Presidents, along with high-level delegations from 80 countries and foreign entities.
Heads of State Mauricio Macri (Argentina), Juan Manuel Santos (Colombia), Michelle Bachelet (Chile), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Horacio Cartes (Paraguay), Enrique Peña Nieto (Mexico), as well as Vice-Presidents and high-ranked officials are present at the ceremony.
Spain's King Emeritus Juan Carlos I also attends the event.
U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman leads the American delegation, whereas Japan's former Economy Minister Toshiniro Nikai represents his nation.
