Peru's portfolio of hydrocarbon projects totals US$17.5 billion over 2016-2018, said Beatriz de la Vega, EY expert.
The push given to projects will contribute to an increase of 4% or more in GDP as of 2018.
"Our current [GDP] projection for 2017 is 3.8%, and for 2018 the forecast is 4%, at least," she pointed out.
With respect to the 2016-2018 portfolio, US$5.8 billion out of US$17.5 billion will be spent in the upstream stage (exploration and exploitation).
Likewise, US$5.6 billion will be spent on midstream projects (transportation through ducts and virtual gas pipelines) and US$6.0 billion on downstream (refining, distribution and trade).
"I don't think every project will enter fully into force this year, but they might gradually contribute to sustaining a GDP growth rate of 4% within a two-to three-year horizon," he said.
