The Government will promote the construction of 35,700 homes in 2018, with the purpose of benefitting more than 150,000 Peruvians, Housing, Construction and Sanitation Minister Carlos Bruce affirmed Monday.

The announcement took place at Peru's Congress while supporting the Public Budget for the Fiscal Year 2018.

Under Techo Propio program, more than 3,000 bonuses will be delivered this year and 33,500 thru 2021.

Techo Propio (Own Roof) is addressed to families with low monthly wages, who are interested in buying, constructing or improving their homes.

Concerning Mivivienda credit, the minister said that 7,500 housing bonuses will be granted in 2017. Growth is expected for the coming years thus reaching 33,500 Mivivienda loans thru 2021.

MiVivienda (My Home) is aimed at facilitating access to housing credits for families, mainly from low-income sectors.

Record number

The minister noted a record number in terms of mortgage credit was reached last September, as 3,549 loans —aimed at financing homes— were granted to citizens.
