Peru's Executive Power and regional governments on Friday inked the National Pact Against Anemia and Chronic Child Malnutrition.

Led by President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, the event was held at Lima's Government Palace following the closing of the 3rd Executive Branch and Regional Governors Meeting (GORE).

In this sense, the Andean nation plans to reduce anemia rates from 43.5% to 19% among children aged between 6-36 months by 2021.

Likewise, regional governments are committed to reaching the mentioned goal by implementing various measures and setting annual targets.

In addition, the document strengthens ties between the Executive and regional governments, in order to continue fighting anemia.

At the signing event, the central government was represented by Prime Minister Fernando Zavala, as well as Ministers Cayetana Aljovin (Development and Social Inclusion) and Patricia Garcia (Health).

The counterpart was represented by National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR) Head Edwin Licona and Huancavelica region's Governor Glodoaldo Alvarez.
