Peru's Executive Power has made official the Supreme Decree declaring the Dakar Rally an event of national interest.
Published this Sunday in official newspaper El Peruano, the said decree also establishes the creation of a working group.
The commission will articulate efforts to guarantee Peru's success as host of the upcoming sporting event.
The working group will be presided over by a representative of the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry.
Said special delegation will be also composed of representatives of the Ministries of: Education, Environment and Culture, as well as of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) and the country's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru).
The event
The Dakar Rally —to be held in January 2018— will comprise a tour running across Argentina, Bolivia and Peru.
The 40th edition will comprise many stages to be raced against the clock.
The race will host 750 competitors, among them 40 Peruvian representatives.
The Inca country has already hosted Dakar competitions on two occasions.
