Fishing sector production grew 280.4% in May 2017 from a year earlier, the highest rate over the past 41 months.
Figures refer to the second month of the anchovy fishing season in the central-north region of Peru.
Catches of species for direct human consumption increased by 12.86%, driven by larger hauls of species destined for frozen production (68.2%).
On the other hand, a decline was observed in the capture of species destined for cured (-65.4%), canned (-29.2%) and fresh consumption (-7.4%) products.
As is known,
Peru's fishing industry advanced 286.12% in November 2013, the highest year-on-year increase ever recorded.
