Peruvian Justice Ministry's extradition file of former President Alejandro Toledo may be ready for the next Council of Ministers session, Deputy Justice Minister Juan Falconi informed.

"Quick work is required in these cases. I could assure the commission aims to have everything set up for the next Council of Ministers session," he told RPP radio and TV news station.

Moreover, Falconi recalled said file must be submitted to the Council of Ministers through the Justice Ministry head.

Citizens can rest assured that the Government is working transparently and expeditiously, the official pointed out.

"This work has no time limits," he added.

According to Falconi, the commission can recommend accepting the extradition request or denying it to be returned to the Supreme Court in case of any omission.

As is known, the Supreme Court on Tuesday approved the extradition request for Toledo, who currently resides as a fugitive from Peruvian Justice in the United States and faces an 18-month pretrial detention order.

A resolution stated the ex-leader is being processed for crimes of influence peddling, collusion, and money laundering.

It must be noted Toledo is accused of receiving US$20 million in bribes from the Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht to secure the Inter-Oceanic Highway contract, a major infrastructure venture connecting Peru and Brazil.
