Peru defeats Ecuador 2-1 at World Cup Qualifiers

Peru's soccer team got into the fight for tickets to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia after having defeated Ecuador 2-1 in Quito on Tuesday.

The red-white gave one of its best performances that now places it fourth at the Qualifiers.

Peru remained uninjured at Atahualpa Olympic Stadium and still holds tight to the dream of playing at the World Cup event next year.

The national team seemed pretty strong in the first half. It never stopped attacking its rival. Thus, it had clear chances to score, which became reality in the second half. 

In this sense, Edison Flores and Paolo Hurtado became the Peruvian heroes by scoring in the 73rd and 76th minutes, respectively.

Via penalty, Enner Valencia made the only goal for the Ecuadorians in the 79th minute.

It must be noted this game has marked the first time the national team sees a victory in Quito.

Peru now ranks fourth (24 points) after having claimed 7 triumphs, 3 draws and 6 defeats.

There are two games left in the tournament. The red-white will next play Argentina (October 5th) and Colombia (October 10th) hoping to grab the tickets.
