Peru: Cusco promotes free tourist tour to Inca Trail

12:59 | Cusco (Cusco region), Apr. 27.

The Municipality of Cusco designed and implemented the "Non-traditional Tourist Circuits" project, which encourages domestic and foreign tourists to visit developing attractions located near the Andean city, free of charge.

According to Tourism and Culture Deputy Manager's Office, the aim is that people get more interested in the Inca culture and its vast history.

In this regard, group tours will be offered from April 27 to May 11, as well as from June 6 to June 22. These are scheduled to start at 8:00 AM (local time) and run thru noon.

Delegations will trek through the Inca Trail. They will leave from Cusco and arrive in Ccorca district to visit the place where the first human settlements (ethnic groups) were located.

Ccorca also houses the first manifestations of cave paintings. These archaeological remains probably date to 2,000 BC.

In addition, there are attractions such as Machucorimarca Archaeological Center, Farallones de Tecsecocha, Inca Trail, Apu Mama Simona, Santiago Apostol de Ccorca Colonial Temple, and Huanoc Archaeological Site.
