The number of Chinese tourists in Peru increased 46% in the last 12-month period, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros affirmed.

"Once we made the decision to remove visa requirements for Chinese tourists [in September 2016] and allowed them to enter with American and Schengen visas, Chinese tourist arrivals in Peru managed to increase 46%," he stated.

Although the Andean country currently does not register large numbers —in terms of visits from the Asian Giant— Peru will soon be able to welcome 50,000 Chinese citizens per year.

International tourists

Likewise, the cabinet member projected the Inca country will end 2017 exceeding 4 million international tourists, thus setting a historic record.

"The international tourist flow rate won't be stable every year, as it will expand. Therefore, I am sure Peru will register a 14% increase in foreign tourists over the coming years," he concluded.
