Over 1 million Peruvians benefitted from water works in 2017

Peru's Housing, Construction, and Sanitation Ministry (MVCS) has so far this year invested more than S/3.666 billion (about US$1.109 billion) to implement 1,723 sanitation projects nationwide, thus benefitting a total of 1,178,050 citizens.

The five regions recording the highest investments were Puno (S/428 million; US$131.935 million), Cajamarca (S/372 million; US$114.673 million), La Libertad  (S/317 million; US$97.718 million), San Martin (S/263 million; US$81.072 million), and Lambayeque (S/259 million; US$79.839 million).

Projects

According to MVCS, 67% of projects were executed in 11 regions registering the highest poverty rates in the country. They are Cajamarca, Huancavelica, Amazonas, Apurimac, Ayacucho, Pasco, Puno, Loreto, Huanuco, Piura, and La Libertad.

It must be noted MVCS has implemented a total of 1,172 projects in these regions with an investment of over S/2.352 billion (US$725.030 million).
