Peruvian actress Magaly Solier is to present her new movie Altiplano -a Belgian-German-Dutch coproduction film- at the European Film Festival running this week in Lima.
Altiplano’s star will participate as jury member at Fenaco, Cusco International Short Film Festival.
This Belgo-Dutch-German co-production, for which Cinecorp provided production services, will be presented in Lima, Trujillo and Cajamarca, on the framework of the European Film Festival.
Altiplano, from directors Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth (director of Khadak, winner of the 2006 Venice Film Festival's Lion of the Future) is starred by the Peruvian actresses Magaly Solier (Madeinusa, La Teta Asustada) and by the Cannes winning actor Olivier Gourmet.
It was shot last year in the beautiful Colca Valley between July and August, 2008, with more of 150 extras and a crew of technicians and actors mainly from Peru.
The movie was premiered at the Critics Week section of the Cannes Film Festival.
This film tells the story of Grace (Jasmin Tabatabai), a celebrated war photographer, who has renounced her profession after a terrible incident in Baghdad. Her beloved, Max, is a doctor working in the high Andes.
Within this community is a young girl, Saturnina (Magaly Solier), who loses her fiancé to the contamination and decides to sacrifice herself in protest.
Grace, drawn by the mysterious nature of her husband's death, travels to the high Andes and discovers the roots of an unknown war between the locals and the mines. She rediscovers a passionate necessity to create images. Now, however, she is able to see beyond the visible world.
She will also participate as jury member at Fenaco, event scheduled for this weekend. Furthermore, as part of the jury of Fenaco, Solier will choose the best films (355 shorts from 35 countries will be screened).
