Government officials from Cameroon, Madagascar and Indonesia visited Juntos program beneficiaries in Santa Maria del Valle and Chinchao districts (Huanuco region) to verify contribution of the program in reducing chronic malnutrition and anemia in children.
A total of 33 high-ranking officials from Asia and Africa, together with 10 World Bank Group (WBG) representatives, arrived in Huanuco to learn from Peru's experience on the matter.
"Juntos' role has been key in reducing chronic malnutrition among children in Huanuco between 2007 and 2016," Huanuco Territorial Unit head Enrique Garay said as he explained health and education services demand has increased substantially thanks to such program.
The foreign delegation joined Juntos local agents on a home visit to a beneficiary family in Ñahuin Sequia —a community in Santa Maria del Valle district.
During their two-day stay, foreigners learned strategies, procedures, actions and inter-sectoral coordination practices that helped improve Peru's social indicators in cooperation with State-run institutions.
