First Vice-President Martin Vizcarra will arrive in Peru on Thursday evening following Kuczynski's resignation as President of the Republic, Peruanos por el Kambio (PPK) ruling party's spokesperson Gilbert Violeta informed.
According to the lawmaker, Vizcarra's arrival is scheduled at 8:00 PM (local time).
According to the Constitution, Vizcarra would take over the Presidency of the Inca country and replace the recently-resigned President of Peru.
If succession is confirmed, former Moquegua's Regional Governor would face one of the toughest challenges of his political career.
"I am outraged by the current situation like most Peruvians. However, I believe together we will demonstrate —once again— we can move ahead. I am therefore returning to Peru to make myself available, in accordance with the Constitution," the government official posted on Twitter.
