Edgar Alarcon was sworn in as the new General Comptroller of Peru by the head of the Judiciary Branch Victor Ticona.

The Congress of the Republic published the resolution authorizing his appointment. Alarcon will be state comptroller for the next seven years.

Election took place on Wednesday during the Permanent Commission of the Congress, where the proposal received a majority of votes (15 votes in favor, no votes against and no abstentions).

Alarcon is a public accountant, and served as deputy comptroller before this appointment. He replaces Fuad Khoury, whose seven-year term began in 2009 and ended on May 13th this year.

The document was signed by President Ollanta Humala, Congress Chairman Luis Iberico and Deputy-Chairwoman Natalie Condori.
