Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message to Martin Vizcarra on Thursday to congratulate him on his inauguration as Peru's top leader.

In his message, Xi noted his country has maintained deep, long-standing relations and close high-level exchanges with Peru, adding that the bilateral cooperation has yielded good results in all aspects.

Likewise, the Asian high-level official pointed out the ties between the two countries have become a paradigm of China-Latin America relations.

According to Xinhua news agency, Xi said he places great importance on the development of China-Peru relations and is willing to work with Vizcarra to keep the stability of the countries' comprehensive strategic partnership.

In fact, he intends to carry it [the partnership] further in order to benefit both nations.

Vizcarra took office last Friday in a solemn session at Peruvian Congress.

He replaces Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, who resigned amid a political crisis triggered by the release of clandestine videos of his allies allegedly attempting to buy votes ahead of an impeachment vote.
