A Chilean Air Force C-130 Hercules plane, carrying 18 tons of humanitarian aid for Peruvians hit by natural disasters, arrived at Lima's Air Group Nº 8 on Monday night.
The arriving batch included food, blankets and personal hygiene kits.
The crew was welcomed by Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna and Chilean Ambassador to Lima Roberto Ibarra upon landing in the nation's capital.
Additionally, it was announced the aircraft will be handed over to Peru for a 10-day period with the purpose of transporting citizens, as well as essentials to areas in need.
Thus, Chile becomes the third South American nation to have sent relief aid aimed at tackling heavy rain and flood emergencies, following the steps of Ecuador and Colombia.
It must be noted Peru recently deployed a 54-member brigade and a helicopter to fight forest wildfires in the neighboring country.
