A Brazilian Air Force (FAB) C-130 Hercules aircraft landed in Lima's Air Group N°8 on Tuesday afternoon carrying humanitarian aid for rain, landslide and flood victims in Peru's northern regions.

Brazil's contribution includes a humanitarian mission composed of 14 FAB officers, who will support emergency response efforts in Piura, Trujillo and Chiclayo cities.

"We operate in cooperation with local authorities […]," said aircraft commander Gustavo Magaldi.

The delegation was welcomed by Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry representative Rodolfo Coronado and Air Force Commander General Javier Ramirez. Both officials thanked the fellow South American nation for its solidarity.

"Your support is vital in these circumstances," Ramirez pointed out.

The Inca nation is currently at the mercy of the onslaughts of nature. As a result, over 800 districts have been declared in state of emergency nationwide.

Latest official data reveals over 70 fatalities and more than 100,000 people were left homeless. Collapsed bridges throughout the country further complicate relief delivery and emergency response efforts.
