Producers from Madre de Dios, Loreto, Ucayali, San Martin, Huanuco and Amazonas —regions along the Peruvian rainforest— will ship their flagship products to Europe and Asia, Madre de Dios Governor Luis Otsuka Salazar informed.
He explained negotiations with business groups are on good track and will be finalized anytime soon.
The regional government through its Foreign Trade and Tourism Department is advising agricultural associations and producers so that the negotiations can succeed.
Otsuka, who is in Tingo Maria for the sixth edition of Expo Amazonica 2016 held by Huanuco region, said native products are highly demanded by several countries around the world.
Foreign entrepreneurs are interested in importing cocoa, aguaje, copoazu, carambola, aguaymanto, papaya, cocona, bananas, pineapples, processed fruits and chestnuts.
Held from July 14 to 17, Expo Amazonica will be the perfect platform to showcase benefits of Peruvian rainforest products.
The fair will feature exhibitors from Madre de Dios, Loreto, Ucayali, San Martin, Huanuco and Amazonas. Other regions like Junin, Pasco, Cusco, Ayacucho, Huancavelica and Ancash have been invited to join the event as well.
With over 20,000 domestic and foreign visitors expected to show up, the exhibit will gather 500 potential purchasers of supermarkets, hotels and restaurants, as well as importers, exporters, distributors and investors from both Peru and overseas.
