Peruvian Adrian Zela —who currently plays center back for Lima's soccer club Deportivo Municipal— was called up for the Peru-New Zealand playoff matches taking place this November.

The call, made by the team's board, was confirmed by the Peruvian Soccer Federation via social media.

Zela will thus replace Alianza Lima defender Miguel Araujo, who was injured during a local league's game.

As is known, Peru will face New Zealand in Wellington on November 11 at 4:15 PM (local time) and in Lima on November 15 at 9:15 PM (local time).

Playoff matches will decide if the national squad returns to a World Cup tournament since its last participation in Spain 1982.
