Between 25,000 and 35,000 Peruvian fans are expected to cheer on their national team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup —set to be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15— Peruvian Migration Superintendent Eduardo Sevilla informed on Wednesday.
Made by the National Superintendence of Migrations, the estimates were based on numbers reported by the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur), the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru), the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), and the Domestic and Foreign Tour Operators Association (Apotur).
Sevilla recommends applying for an electronic passport if the current one is set to expire within the next six months.
The process to get the passport issued lasts one hour and takes place during the day at any Lima-based or inland office.
Additionally, the immigration bureau at Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport is available 24/7 for passengers with a boarding pass.
In case of stopovers, fans are advised to find out if the transition country requires a visa for Peruvian citizens.
