The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, on Wednesday stated that her government seeks to build a robust, diversified, and secure energy system to serve Peruvians in the coming years.

These statements were made during the signing of amendments to the hydrocarbon exploration and production contracts for Blocks Z-61, Z-62, and Z-63. The ceremony was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

"Our decision is clear: to build a robust, diversified, and secure energy system that serves Peruvians and future generations. (…) Today, with this signing, we will lay solid foundations for Peru to continue moving forward with a steady course toward the future," she expressed.

The top official stated that "we are a reliable, serious, and stable country" for large-scale investment.

The Head of State noted that the signing of this amendment "marks a turning point, as well as opens the doors for other world-class companies to invest in the energy future of our homeland."

"Thus, a new stage opens in the Trujillo Basin, an area with enormous potential, and if exploration confirms it, we will be witnessing a new energy dawn to ensure the country’s economic growth," she added.

The President also stated that Peru is once again at the center of global attention, not because of a crisis, "but due to investments that generate jobs, development, and a future."

"As a government, our position is firm: yes to investment, yes to growth, but always with respect for the environment. Peru is megadiverse, and the government will continue to defend it," Mrs. Boluarte said.

"Today we open a new page in the history of our homeland, a page in which the country stands tall to secure its energy and economy, and we mark a historic milestone. This act is not only the signing of a contract but also expresses the decision to commit to its energy independence and future," she added.

The President recalled that for a long time our country depended on oil, and that whenever its price rose, household economies were affected. Therefore, extracting this hydrocarbon ensures an end to external dependence on it.
