, is close to completing and inaugurating 10 tourism projects in seven regions of Peru, the sector’s head Elizabeth Galdo announced on Tuesday.
The government official indicated that the new infrastructures are valued at S/85.7 million (about US$22.88 million).
Similarly, the Cabinet member underlined that these will contribute to
tourism development in our country and will
benefit more than 3.2 million people, including domestic and foreign visitors.
"These new tourist infrastructures are essential for economic growth, job creation, and regional development. They will not only attract tourists but will also directly or indirectly benefit all citizens living in the area of influence of those works. This policy is fostered by the Government, because tourism is an important activity for the country," she expressed.
Infrastructure works
Minister Galdo specified that
tourist infrastructure works which are close to completion and inauguration, through the
National Copesco Plan, are located in the following regions:
• Junin (two projects: Enhancements to the Monumental Zone-Construction of the Interpretation Center and the Lord of Muruhuay Museography).
• Ucayali (three works through the IOARR component: Tacna Boulevard, Main Square, and Reloj Boardwalk).
• Huánuco (Enhancements to the Owls Cave).
• Ayacucho (installation of a medium voltage system in Quinua).
• Amazonas (Enhancements to the Tingo Main Church).
• Ica (Enhancement of the tourist experience when visiting the Nazca Lines and Geoglyphs, through the IOARR component).
"Each of these works has diverse components; for example, in some cases, we are talking about construction work on buildings for cultural exhibitions, tourist attractions in the area, trails, tourist stops, signage, museography, parking lots, ornamental lighting systems, ticket offices, and restrooms," Minister Galdo indicated.
The
National Copesco Plan is in charge of formulating, coordinating, directing, executing, supervising, and providing specialized technical assistance in investment projects related to regions' tourism infrastructure.
