In a global context marked by economic volatility and the urgent need to advance toward more sustainable business models, public and private sector leaders from Norway and Peru recently met in Lima for the Norwegian Business Night.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Norway in Chile and the Honorary Consulate of Norway in Lima, with the support of DNB Bank and the Norwegian Tunneling Network (NTN).

The gathering brought together over 120 participants, including Peruvian authorities, diplomatic representatives, businesspeople, and executives from Norwegian and Peruvian companies. The purpose was to identify opportunities for bilateral cooperation in investment, innovation, and responsible business.

The day featured two panels that provided strategic insights on global trends and their impact on the Peruvian market:

"Markets in Motion: Global Macroeconomic Trends and Their Impact on Peru" was led by DNB Bank and included participants from Kongsberg Discovery and Statkraft. The panel discussed how the energy transition, shifts in international markets, and capital flows affect emerging economies.

"Responsible by Design: The Norwegian Business Approach" was led by NTN (Norwegian Tunneling Network) and featured Austral Group, represented by its CEO Adriana Giudice. The session highlighted Norway's experience in sustainability, innovation, and long-term management in sectors such as infrastructure, fisheries, and energy.

Both sessions were moderated by Claudia Valdivia, a specialist in finance and human capital, who emphasized that business resilience and sustainability are key to attracting investment and ensuring competitiveness in an increasingly challenging environment.

Norway's Ambassador to Chile and Peru, Per Anders Nilsen, explained that strengthening the bilateral relationship between his country and Peru is based not only on trade but also on building trust through shared values such as sustainability, innovation, and transparency in business.

"Currently, more than 14 Norwegian companies already operate in Peru, reflecting our long-term interest in contributing to the country’s economic development," he emphasized.

In turn, Norway's Honorary Consul General based in Lima, Matthias Stimman, highlighted the organization of the event.

"Our purpose is to build bridges between Norway and Peru in the business sphere, fostering cooperation and trust that translate into high-impact projects," Stimman stated.

"The energy transition, infrastructure, and sustainable fisheries are clear examples of how we can combine capabilities to achieve competitive and sustainable development," he added.

A Platform for the future

The Norwegian Business Night is envisioned as the first edition of an annual business dialogue forum, aimed at identifying synergies in strategic sectors such as finance, infrastructure, energy, and technology, thereby consolidating strategic cooperation between the two countries.
