The Peruvian Government reaffirms its unwavering commitment to promote and protect democracy in the region.

Similarly, Peru indicates that it will remain firm and determined in maintaining, along with other countries in the region, a permanent monitoring of the situation in Venezuela.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the Peruvian Government is coordinating with like-minded countries the protection of the interests of Peru and Peruvian citizens in Venezuela, in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The document also states that Peru will continue to undertake efforts in order to serve the Venezuelan community residing in our country.

However, it reiterates Peru's position regarding the multiple irregularities that occurred before and during the electoral process that took place on July 28 in said country, which constitutes authentic electoral fraud.
