Peru expresses hopes for prompt triumph of democracy and freedom in Venezuela

Peru deeply laments the suffering of the brotherly Venezuelan people and hopes for the prompt triumph of democracy and freedom in Venezuela.

This was stated by the Presidency of Peru via its social media channels, after it was known that the Venezuelan Government had announced the breaking of relations with Peru.

"Faced with the impossibility of conclusively proving its alleged electoral victory by exhibiting all records for international verification as requested by countries and multiple international organizations, Mr. Maduro's regime announces the breaking of diplomatic relations with Peru," it stated on Tuesday night.

The Presidential Office emphasizes that this decision merely formalizes the previous arbitrary decision to request the departure of Peruvian diplomatic and consular officials, as well as those from several other countries in the region.
