Former President Alberto Fujimori has enrolled in Fuerza Popular (Popular Force) political party, the organization's leader Keiko Fujimori announced.

Alberto Fujimori, 85, was a founding leader of parties such as Cambio 90 (Change 90), Nueva Mayoría (New Majority), Vamos Vecino (Let's Go, Neighbor), and Sí Cumple (It Fulfills its Promise), political organizations with which he participated in different electoral processes from 1990 to 2000. He became president on three occasions.

After his resignation from the Presidency of the Republic, while being overseas, he was extradited from Chile to face several legal proceedings, including those over La Cantuta and Barrios Altos crimes, for which he was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
