Peru promotes mystic tourism with shamanic session

11:25 | Lima, Aug. 06 (ANDINA).

In order to promote mystic and experiential tourism, Peruvian and foreign tourists took part late Friday in a shamanic session in a native community of Ucayali region, in Peru's Amazon rainforest, the Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur) reported.

Conducted by master shaman David Vasquez, the ritual took place in the community of Santa Clara at 21.30 hours.

The shamanic ceremony consists on drinking the ayahuasca brew prepared with root bark and chacruna leaves, among other ingredients typical in this area.

Ethereal melodies open the acoustical windows to the spirit world and after drinking the ayahuasca brew people obtain a certain level of spiritual awareness and their soul “lift up” and separate from the physical body to finally reach a level of balance or oneness with nature.

This activity is part of a project lunched two years ago aiming to promote tourist, mystic and experiential circuits to the native communities of Yarinacocha and Nueva Betania.
