Peru's total fruit exports reached US$2.025 billion between January and November 2017, a 20% increase from the same period the previous year, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) informed.
"This result was underpinned by the increased demand for
avocados (+43%), the implementation of phytosanitary protocols, and the increased area for growing avocados and
blueberries," the guild explained.
According to Adex Agriculture Section Manager Paula Carrion, fresh fruit shipments accounted for 89.2% of the country's total fruit exports.
The most demanded products included avocados (US$612.225 million) and grapes (US$394.680 million), both accounted for 49% of shipments. They were followed by blueberries (16%), mangos (11%), and
tangerines (8%).
