National Society of Industries (SNI) Chairman Felipe James indicated that the
marks a milestone in bilateral relations and opens up a series of opportunities to position Peru as a logistics and industrial center in South America.
"For us, it has been a satisfactory visit; now we must follow up on the agreements signed in China to ensure their positive impact on us, in the medium and long term," he told Andina News Agency.
Business participation
The business leader deemed as extremely important the fact that the private sector was represented in this visit accompanying the official Peruvian delegation.
"This proves the importance that the private sector has attached to this trip to China, our main trading partner," he noted.
James stressed that this trip allowed for clearing up doubts that had existed about Chinese investments in Peru, as well as for consolidating the opportunity that is presented for the country to position itself as a logistics and industrial center in South America.
The officer also emphasized the reception of the Peruvian delegation in China.
"It was extraordinary," he remarked.
"It has been an achievement so as to enhance local human capital, essential for the generation of local added value," he said.
Economic zones
"It was a fishing port 30 or 40 years ago, but now as a Special Economic Zone, it has taken off and become a spectacular and very modern city," he underscored.
The business leader highlighted that this city hosts the most modern factories in China.
"That tells us the path we should follow here, in terms of Special Economic Zones," he said.
"The idea is that companies from various countries come to be able to produce there relying on the advantages that Special Economic Zones offer and from there be able to export all over the world, turning Peru into South America's logistics and industrial center," he emphasized.
