Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Head of State of Brunei Darussalam, and Lawrence Wong Shyun Tsai, Prime Minister of Singapore, confirmed their participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week, which will take place in the city of Lima from November 9 to 16, Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer reported.

The ambassador met with his Bruneian counterpart, within the framework of his participation in the High-Level Week of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, United States, last week.

"Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer met with his counterpart from Brunei Darussalam, Erywan Pehin Yusof, an occasion on which he welcomed the confirmation of the State Visit by His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to Peru, within the framework of the APEC Leaders' Summit," the Ministry reported via social media on September 27.

The Peruvian diplomat said the APEC forum is an excellent opportunity for Bruneian entrepreneurs to visit Peru, as well as to explore business and investment opportunities, especially in the context of the inauguration of Chancay Megaport and the future logistics hub.

During a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, the Peruvian Foreign Affairs minister expressed gratitude for the confirmation of Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's participation in the APEC Peru 2024 Leaders' Summit, highlighting Singapore's support for the decision of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to grant Peru the status of "Development Partner" at the session held last January.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
