13:35 | Washington D.C. (U.S.), Sep. 18.

Peru and fellow regional countries on Friday held the Second Regular Meeting of the Organization of American States' (OAS) Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG) as part of preparations towards the VIII Summit of the Americas, taking place in Lima in April 2018.

During the two-day meeting, American nations participated in a political dialogue on specific actions to tackle corruption in the Western hemisphere.

The Peruvian delegation was composed of Ambassador Antonio Garcia Revilla, Director-General for Multilateral and Global Affairs at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, as well as Ambassador Ana Rosa Valdivieso, Peru's Permanent Representative to OAS.

The event follows on the First SIRG Meeting at the Ministerial Level held last June, during which Peru —as SIRG chair— presented the theme of the said Summit: Democratic Governance against Corruption.

Summit of the Americas arrangements consider three additional SIRG meetings covering issues such as corruption and sustainable development, as well as cooperation, international institutional character and public-private alliances.
Conclusions to be drawn from said events will be discussed by OAS Heads of State during the VIII Summit of the Americas.

SIRG's Second Regular Meeting was preceded by a Policy Dialogue on democratic governance and corruption, organized by OAS' Summits of the Americas Secretariat and think tank Inter-American Dialogue
