Peru President arrives in France, starts official visit

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski arrived in Paris on Wednesday marking the beginning of his official visits to France and Spain, where he will meet with counterparts Emmanuel Macron and Mariano Rajoy.

The national delegation arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport following a 13-hour flight. Its members were welcomed by Peruvian Ambassador to France Alvaro de Soto.

The President's entourage is composed of Ministers Ricardo Luna (Foreign Affairs) and Alfredo Thorne (Economy and Finance), among other government officials.

During the visits, the Head of State will seek to strengthen bilateral and cooperation ties with both European nations, as well as to promote infrastructure investments within the framework of Peru's post-disaster reconstruction process

France

The top official will begin his Europe trip paying a visit to France, where he will meet with President Emmanuel Macron at Elysee Palace.

Mr. Kuczynski will thus become the first Latin American President to meet with the recently-elected leader. 


The 78-year-old economist has also been invited to OECD's 2017 International Economic Forum on Latin America and the Caribbean, where he will give the opening session's keynote speech.

The event will take place at Pierre Mendes France Conference Center in Paris on Friday, June 9.  

The forum will also see the presence of French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) President Alfredo Moreno.

Mr. Kuczynski will then hold audiences with the said OECD and IDB heads, as well as with Guatemala's President Jimmy Morales.
 
The France agenda also includes a work meeting with Movement of French Enterprises (Medef) members at Cercle de I'Union Interalliee. 

Spain

Following his France activities, the Peruvian President will travel to Spain, where he will be welcomed by President of the Government Mariano Rajoy at Moncloa Palace. 

Both leaders will share a work breakfast joined by Ministers Luna and Thorne, as well as Peru's Ambassador to Spain Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde and International Affairs Advisor Roberto Rodriguez.
 

Likewise, Mr. Kuczynski is to meet with Prisa Group Chairman Juan Luis Cebrian and El Pais Editor-in-Chief Antonio Caño at Casino de Madrid, where he will open the forum "El Peru del Futuro" (Peru of the Future). 

Activities in Spain will also include a work session with members of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) featuring CEOE President Juan Rosell, Spain Chamber of Commerce head Jose Luis Bonet, Secretary of State for Commerce Maria Luisa Poncela, as well as main Spanish business leaders. 

In addition, Peru's President will meet with His Majesty King Felipe VI at Zarzuela Palace.
