Peruvian president Ollanta Humala said the aerial interdiction law passed by the Congress is a major deterrent in the fight against drug trafficking.

“It is an important topic, a positive one because this is a deterrent to any narco-trafficking crafts attempting to enter Peruvian airspace,” President Humala said as he revealed the law will be enacted as soon as possible.

He said the regulation will establish an action protocol to yield greater security when protecting Peruvian borders.

Humala Tasso addressed the media after opening Trabaja Peru Program projects in the district of San Antonio located in the Huarochiri province, Lima.

He recalled the fight against drug trafficking has been significant under his administration, and that they have eradicated hectares of illegal coca crops seized chemical inputs and captured crafts.
