Peru economy to grow 4.5% this year, 6% in 2015

10:45 | Lima, Jul. 20.

Peruvian economy will expand 4.5 percent this year before rebounding to six percent in 2015, according to Alonso Segura, chief of cabinet consultants at Peru’s Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).
"Despite the global economic slowdown, this year's economic growth forecast is not bad for Peru, as its economy is projected to grow by 4.5 percent this year, an estimate that closely matches that of Central Reserve Bank of Peru (4.4 percent)," he claimed.

MEF’s chief adviser also forecasts that 2015 growth will be right in line with the country's growth potential of six percent.

Likewise, Segura explained that the Andean nation's growth rate decline is due to cyclical and seasonal factors, but the worst is over.

“The modest growth rate was probably registered in the second quarter of the year," he said in statements to Lima-based RPP radio.
