President Vizcarra: Coronavirus cases rise to 1,414 in Peru

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday afternoon confirmed that coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have increased to 1,414 in Peru —out of a total of 16,518 samples taken.


According to the Head of State, 91 new cases have been reported if compared to the previous day. Thus, the current rate stands at 8.5% of the total samples.

Within this framework, the top official indicated that 189 patients are hospitalized. 51 of them are currently in Intensive Care Units (ICU) of different hospitals —both in Lima and other cities.

Likewise, the statesman stressed the fact that 537 have already been discharged as healthy people.



On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Thursday marks the eighteenth day of mandatory social isolation.
